My visit with cows

I wasn’t in a hurry today, so after going to my doctor’s office I went across the street to Richardson’s Ice Cream. (I frequently reward myself with ice cream after seeing the doctor or getting blood drawn.)

I snarfed down a hot dog and then approached an ice cream cone in a more leisurely manner.

And then I wandered around back to say hello to the cows. Yes, cows. They have cows right there behind the shop, and all their milk comes from their own cows. They’ve also got some other animals hanging out back there.

Here’s a shot of one of their delivery trucks, charmingly retro (in fairness, Richardson’s Ice Cream *has* been around a long time, so they’ve earned it).

Cow. This one was in a grassy pasture with two little donkeys, which together probably didn’t weigh as much as the lady in this picture. Also two small goats, who were keenly attentive to anyone who put a quarter in the machine that dispensed a handful of goat chow. Of course I had to feed the goats.

This looks like a very upscale "chicken tractor" of some kind. (The other side of it has some steps and a people-sized door, and a … what’s the opposite of a hitch? … a way to tow this behind a truck.)

A very sweet young’un.

And here’s a more mature girl in the barn, who wasn’t too sure about the unfamiliar human that was trying to take her picture.

I had fun.
